WHAT TO EXPECT FROM LANCE THOMAS

MONDAY, MAY 1 - Lance Thomas is one of the few prized recruits left in the class of 2006.  Thomas is ranked 42nd in the Rivals.com final 150 top prospects ranking for the class of 2006. The 6-foot-8, 200 pound forward will make his decision on Thursday, May 4 at a scheduled press conference from his school in Newark, New Jersey. Thomas spent his first two years of high school at Scotch Plains in Fanwood, New Jersey, but transferred to St. Benedict's where he had a very productive junior and senior campaign.

The suspected top schools for Thomas are Rutgers and Duke.  Thomas is an excellent student and has expressed the desire to play close to home.  His commitment could mark one of the highest-profile recruits in Rutgers athletic history.  As far as his basketball abilities are concerned, the guy flat out loves to play.  He gets to the free throw line and loves the baseline jumper.  A coachable athlete who may emerge to play both forward positions.

Thomas used all five of his allotted official visits choosing Duke, Rutgers, Arizona, Florida, and Wake Forest. He visited Wake Forest in November of 2005 and quickly eliminated the school from his list. Based on available playing time and scholarships, the draw of Duke seems very attractive for Thomas.  He'll also have another superior forward coming in for the 2007 class is California sharpshooter Taylor King.  However, Lance Thomas has also stated before that he wants to attend a school in which he will be the focal point of the team.

Tough call, but Coach K will lock up yet another prospect in the New Jersey area. Are the Meadowlands home court advantage for the Blue Devils? Sure seems that way. Lance Thomas to Duke, you heard it here first!

THANKS FOR VISITING!
